There has always been division between the occupants of the world. From the first days of cavemen, there have been those that had, and those that had not. Those that had flourished, given the fact that they had companions that tended to give them far greater advantages. It caused a rift between them and the had nots. Dozens of centuries passed and this way of life was hard-coded into the DNA of every single person in the world. You see, some people were born with a spirit animal, or a Duszai.
These animals are a reflection of someone's inner self. Throughout the years it was those with Duszai that tended to come out on top, and early on a hierarchy developed. Kingdoms rose and kingdoms fell, but the most important fact was, it was always those with a spirit animal that remained at the top. The year is 2016, and things are very much like they are in modern day, but kingdoms still reign supreme, and so do the Duszai. But there has been rumbles that a human city has developed, and though hidden still somewhere between Merrick and Arcadia, there is severe threat coming from them.
